Fabriholic Check In & Library Project Win!!!

Since making the Fabriholic pledge in January, I've worked strictly from my stash. Yep. I have.

Challenges have included "s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g" a backing fabric with piecing to make it large enough to use, and finishing UFOs so they are visually pleasing (or, at the very least, not butt ugly).

Choosing to ignore the lure of tempting emails has been as easy as hitting the delete key, and maybe because the nearest quilt shop is a two hour drive away, I've been able to hold out.

THAT is about to change. I'm The Library Project Quilt Along March winner!!!!

So exciting!!!

I've received a $25 gift card from this Quilt Along sponsor!!!

Can you say TEMPTATION???

I'm going to pretend that winning fabric doesn't break the rules of the fast!

In fact, I think there is a loophole regarding gifts that might apply here...
(don't judge me. Ha!)

Thanks so much to Adrienne at Chezzetcook Modern Quilts for organizing and hosting TLP, and THANK YOU to Fabric Spot for their generous sponsorship!

January - March Stash-Busting Run Down

First ever sampler blocks (my oldest UFO) finally pieced into a top, ready to quilt.

Used up leftover blocks and bits pieced by fellow Guild members to make this charity quilt.
My stash provided the backing, batting and binding.

Finished this flannel baby quilt.

"Modern baby" = stash, from start to finish!

Finished "Not Your Grandmother's Log Cabin" UFO

"Scrappy Plus" = stash all the way!

"Irish Lass" = 100% stash
(She's also a Library Project in progress)

All from my stash, of course.

Yes, it has challenges, and yes, I miss shopping, but stash-busting is one of my favourite things!

  1. There is absolutely no possible way that wining fabric breaks the rules. It would be un-quilty of you to not take the gift. Besides at the rate your finishing all those gorgeous quilts, you're going to have to add to your stash, at some point.

    1. Thank you! I will have fun, that's for sure. So many tempting tidbits. The log cabin quilt was fun to make, and I'm sooooo glad I had the green in my stash to finish it!

    1. Well, it is easier when there is no quilt shop in the vicinity! I'll be in Edmonton in a couple of weeks, so who knows WHAT will happen then! Life is too short to feel guilty, I've decided. You have made lots from your stash, too, so it all works out!

  4. Congratulations on the contest win, and the work that you are doing from your stash. You have so many great projects underway and finished for the year. I think the kaleidoscope is my favorite. What are you planning to make next?

    1. Oh, my...where do I begin? LOL I have more project ideas than I could complete in 99 years, I'm sure! I will finish the quilt on my frame before I do anything else (she says with good intentions...), BUT the next project I'll BEGIN will be a guild challenge. We are doing a river project since we live in a river town, and plan to show the results in the local art gallery in November.

  6. Winning a gift certificate doesn't count as breaking the fabric fast! Think of it as a reward!

If someone gifted you a gift card (for a birthday) would you feel guilty for using it! no way!

    Congrats!! =D

  7. You do beautiful work. The big scrappy flower in the last pic is absolutely stunning! Is this your own pattern? How can I get a copy?

  8. Carole, I did some more looking around your blog and found that it's not a flower but a kaleidoscope. I'm still interested in pattern/technique.
